PERSISTENCE paid off for David Cannon as he snared one of the top prizes at this yearas Lismore Workers Golf Club Easter Open.

The Rous Mill player took the 36-hole net title after firing an impressive score of 132.

It was a commendable victory for Cannon, who has been playing the two-day event most years since joining the Barham St club back in 1992. He credited an excellent display on the greens during Fridayas first day of action as the reason for his success.

aMy putting was fantastic on day one,a Cannon said. aI couldnat seem to miss.

aI think it was just one of those days where everything was on. I guess if you play a lot of rounds like I do, you will get a win eventually.

Fellow Lismore player Wayne Devlin took second place on 135, with another home player Damien Hazelden (136) third.
