WE WROTE: Three of the region's five MPs decided against attending a special sitting of Parliament held to pay tribute to Margaret Thatcher. Labour MPs Andy McDonald, right, and Alex Cunningham and LibDem Ian Swales were among those who stayed in their constituencies. YOU SAID: These guys are supposed to be running the country, yet they act like petulant children. Whether they agreed with Maggie or not, they should respect the dead and also respect their party leader who requested their presence "at the office".

BigSteve Good on the three MPs she did nothing for the North but bring misery. I think it's disgusting the money being spent next week on her funeral at taxpayers' expense. Being respectful to someone who has died is one thing, but it's gone totally over the top.

mich2009 Maggie changed the way unions operated and made it law that there had to be a secret ballot for strike action. It's funny isn't how rare strikes are nowadays? This just shows that the majority of workers did not want strike action but were bullied into by their peers. …
