A Gold For

SPOT Every week I award a gold star to a child of my choosing. The child in question may be real or fictional, historic or current, and the award may be for a specific act or a wider body of work. Basically they are my stars and I'll give them to whoever I choose, assuming I don't stick them all to the lounge telly first.

I'M turning into something a literary buff, and after "Biscuit!" my second favourite command is now "Boooook!" (I'm particularly proud of the 'k' which took a while to perfect).

Anyway, upon issuing this request, I will park my cute patoot on somebody's lap and they will read whichever books I point at until either I fall asleep or they lose all motor skills in their hands and collapse into a spent bundle on the floor.

My favourite tomes at the moment include That's not my lion (other That's not my books available, but none scare Dad as much as the lion whose teeth are too shiny); Thomas and the Lost Watch (there is no aspect of my life that isn't benefited by brotherly hand-me-downs); and anything with Spot in it. …
