MY MOUTH was open so wide it could have swallowed the skinny wasps in heels buzzing along the bar.

The reason for my jaw-dropping movements was a facial spasm brought on by pure shock.

Well I have and it comes in the form of a pot of beer that cost me $11. I remember my old uni days of buying a jug of beer for $8.

Once upon ago beer was classed as a hillbilly wine but these days label beer as boutique and you are charged an C[pounds sterling]in vogueC[yen] interest.

I asked the girl behind the bar if that was the correct amount. I thought it may have been a case of lost in translation, but no, I had to hand over the cash.

In hindsight I wish I had walked away from the bar and refused to pay for it. …
