Fab Four Titles for Bribie Island Junior

BRIBIE Island junior star Natasha Jones won all four state titles in the Queensland championships at Bribie Island last week, the first person to have achieved this feat.

The fourth success came in the junior girls singles when Jones defeated her fours partner Rikkie-Lee Kemp (Bundaberg) 25-9 in the final.

Earlier in the week, Jones won the fours with Kemp, April Wilson and Sunshine CoastCOs Connie-Leigh Rixon, the triples with Wilson and Kemp, and the pairs crown with Wilson.

Jones is an Australian under-18 representative and is in the Queensland under-25 squad. Brendan Wilson (Tweed Heads) picked up the boys under-18 singles after defeating Hayden Vogler (West Toowoomba) in the final while the under-15 event went to ClevelandCOs Jacob Nelson 25-10 from AlgesterCOs Mitchel Mears. Sophie Young (Capalaba) beat Taleah Putney to take the girls under-15 event.

The Gold Coast menCOs representative side was undefeated to win the Quad series played at Caloundra last Sunday with the Sunshine Coast running into second place.

The Sunshine Coast side began with a one-shot victory against Brisbane but then found the Gold Coast too strong in round two, going down by 28 shots. Gold Coast skips Paul Girdler, a former New Zealand star, and Ryan Bester were the standouts in the match.

Round three went to the Sunshine Coast with seven shots to spare over the Brisbane North squad. …
