SQUASH: It was only a few months ago that Grace McErvale thought she had played her last serious squash game.

Now the 18-year-old has made her first national team.

Weighed down by the pressure of completing Year 12 at Caloundra State High while maintaining her game, McErvale quit the sport.

She had enrolled at BrisbaneCOs Queensland University of Technology to do a double major Co exercise science and movement and secondary education.

It was only after her parents C[pounds sterling]encouragedC[yen] her to have a hit that she decided to pick up a racquet again.

McErvaleCOs second place in the under-19 section at the recent Australian Junior Open in Sydney earned her a place on the national team that will contest the World Junior WomenCOs Teams Championships in Wroclaw, Poland, from July 16-27. C[pounds sterling]Doing Year 12 just sort of stressed me out. I was not in the right head space,C[yen] she said.

C[pounds sterling]I put squash on hold and I didnCOt play competitively for about two months C* I turned 18 and did kidCOs stuff and relaxed a bit.
