MARCOOLA residents are losing their agood, old-fashioned doctora Daryl Craven after he was served with a notice to vacate the building.

On February 26, North Shore Projects told Dr Craven he had until April 30 to move his Marcoola Family Medicine business.

aPlease be advised that we are terminating your commercial tenancy by way of written notice,a the letter from North Shore Projects director Keith Blanchard said.

aAs discussed, there are two options for your practice to move to in the area for the same amount of rent.

aWe would encourage you to reconsider moving to one of these options for the benefit of our community.a

When Dr Craven moved into the building almost 11 years ago, he was under a verbal arrangement with the local chemist, and paid his rent three months in advance.

aIn about 2005, the chemist sold the building to North Shore Realty. They took over that verbal arrangement. We never had a written lease,a Dr Craven said.

Mr Blanchard said it was a commercial decision by the owners of the building to terminate Dr Cravenas tenancy.

aDr Craven was at that location on a month-to-month lease arrangement and was told he would be told to move,a he said.

aWhen asked to move, two other locations were offered, at no extra cost, in the Marcoola area. …
