THREE Mackay residents learned a hard and expensive lesson in the Mackay Magistrates Court Co donCOt drink and drive.

All three were pulled over for high-range drink-driving.

Tony Weldon thought heCOd be over the limit on March 30, but he decided to drive anyway, Senior Constable Alicia Ozolins said. His blood alcohol reading was 0.204%.

C[pounds sterling]You could surely have killed someone,C[yen] Magistrate Damien Dwyer said.

Weldon, who was nearly four times the limit, said: C[pounds sterling]I regret what I (did).C[yen]

He told Mr Dwyer he had contacted the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Service, as well as private assistance to address his drink-driving.

Kelli Ann Anderson and Usaia Tawakevou were almost three and a half times the limit at 0.171% and 0.170% respectively.

Anderson was also charged with attaching a personalised plate to her vehicle, without giving notice, and driving on bald tyres. …
