Harris Sees Stunning Rainbow at Chatton

ALL three lakes at Chatton have continued to fish well with Keith Harris from Hawick, fishing a black lure on a sinking line, landing the best fish of the week - a 12lb rainbow from Chatton Lake.

Other anglers who landed good fish included Robert Armstrong from Stobhill, who caught a 9lb rainbow from Ross Lake, and Paul Young from Blyth who returned a 10lb brown trout.

On Saturday, Chatton Ladies will be holding a session with coaching and tuition from Ladies Fishing Club ( from 9.30am to 4pm - ring 01668 215226 or Anne Woodcock on 01388 605340.

New to the day is a salmon workshop, imed at beginners and anglers who would like to learn more about fishing for salmon.

The workshop is run by AAPGAI Master in the double-handed rod Paul Little. The course covers equipment, flies, water craft, casting and is supplemented with learning materials - written and video. Places must be booked on 07885 465704.

The Fishery will be close at 8pm this week and 5.30pm on Saturday.

It has been another cracking week at South Linden Fishery where A Ferguson of Wallsend caught and released 12 on a eight-hour ticket, B King of Gateshead caught 14 including 8lb and 12lb rainbows, G Maddison Bedlington caught and released eight in a four-hour session and E Simpson caught and released nine.

The well-stocked bait lake has also fished well this week with good numbers of rainbows brought to the net on worm and maggot.

The fishery is sponsoring a Game Anglers North East region event from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. The lakes will be open to public fishing from 4pm to dusk.

Higham Lakes are fishing well and the majority of anglers have recorded limit bags.

Geff Toothall from Ashington returned a nice 12lb rainbow taken on a bloodworm, whereas Rob Frame from Denton returned 19 to various flies.

Steve Greathead from Chester-le-Street, the winner of last week's Troutmasters fish-off at Sharpley Springs, was back at the fishery to land a 17lbs 5oz rainbow.

John Sharma and Peter Appleby from Ryhope and Bishop Auckland each landed 14 trout, whereas Neil Urwin from Hexham had one of 10lb. …
