BUNDABERG region growers and Impact Make Your Mark have joined to create job opportunities for the disadvantaged by starting an exotic jam-making business.

The exciting new business, Bundaberg Exotic Preserves, is one of four not-for-profit organisations taken over since it was faced with asignificanta government cuts to employment program funding.

Impact CEO Tanya OaShea said job seekers would learn how to make the jam, which would be sold across Bundaberg, including online sales.

aWe engaged a consultant to do some investigating for us in relation to some different businesses.

Some of the finest jam flavours include mango and chilli chutney, passionfruit jam, orange whiskey marmalade, rhubarb and ginger jam and exotic tomato sauce, with Impact clients busily working to come up with many more enticing flavours.

aPeople will be able to buy the jams online in the next month,a she said. …
