YOUNG wheelchair basketball player Jake Fulwood is spinning things his way with hard work and determination.

Earlier this year, the 17-year-old earned himself a place in the Australian menas under-23 training squad and the chance to represent his country as a member of the Aussie Spinners team in Turkey at the world championships later this year.

The Year 12 Mathew Flinders Anglican College student has always been in a wheelchair, having been born with spina bifida, and has played the game since age 10.

Jake said years of experience set him apart from the other players and made him a force to be reckoned with on the court.

aI have a few extra years on most people and Iave picked up quite a few things,a he said.

Jake said wheelchair basketball was often a rough game and players were prepared to fall out of their wheelchairs as they committed to every rebound shot.
