HOCKEY: Maryboroughas open representative teams are keen to give their more-fancied opponents a run for their money when this yearas State Hockey Championships start in Brisbane tomorrow.

Maryborough had mixed results in last yearas tournament but womenas coach Cheryll Brown said both teams had the potential to cause some upsets.

Maryboroughas menas team, coached by Aaron Kenny, looks to be the stronger of the two with former Queensland Country representatives Cameron Baker and Greg Collins to lead the charge.

But the womenas team is not short of talent with state age group goalkeepers Jess Switzer and Grace OaHanlon to each spend time in the goals, while gun players Eva Golusin, Lauren Scholl, Sarah Hawker and Brooke Savage are all expected to pose a threat. …
