High-Octane Fun; Former Bathurst Star Has a New Racing Strategy

MOTOR RACING: Bob Holden once held the record of 34 for most appearances at the Bathurst 1000 but this weekend his whole focus will be on a fun weekend driving on Morgan Park Raceway.

Holden, who won Bathurst in 1966, lives at Bucketts Way near Taree in New South Wales and will be on the road to Warwick this morning as part of a team of four drivers.

They donat have a team name; it isnat needed when the emphasis is fun.

The team comprises three Escorts and one Corolla which Holden will drive.

aI drove the last small car in the Bathurst 1000 with Neville Bridges, an Escort in 1993,a he said.

aWe started 56th on the grid and came 15th in a baby car.a

Most of the team cars are in the name of Justin Matthews, of Sydney, who will drive Escorts along with Russell Keam, of Gunnedah, and his son Greg. …
