SELDOM have I witnessed so many Newcastle United fans walking out of St James' Park in their numbers like they did on Saturday night.

And I am talking as a player who has been at St James' during the bad old days of the old Second Division.

A lot of people seem to have it in for my old boss Ossie Ardiles.

I'm not sure why. Yes, the team struggled, but with a team of kids and no money to spend he made the best job of a bad situation. We'll never know if he'd have turned it round.
