Music Will Be Large Part of One Spark's 'Crowdfunding'; Spectators Can Donate to Their Favorite Bands, or Vote toward $250,000 Purse

The One Spark festival takes over the streets of downtown Jacksonville next week, and music is a huge part of the event.

Dozens of musicians - rock, country, hip hop, classical, you name the genre - will play 30-minute sets on one of three stages set up around The Jacksonville Landing in hope of catching the eyes and ears - and wallets - of fans. All the musical acts are free.

One Spark is a "crowdfunding" festival, the first of its kind. Musicians (and artists and inventors and more than 500 entepreneurs of all kinds) will show what they can do. If you like what you see, you can give them a few bucks on the spot. Or you can cast a vote for them. At the end of the festival, a $250,000 prize will be divvied up based on the number of votes received.

There will be speeches and performances at more than 65 downtown venues throughout the day from Wednesday through Sunday, April 21.

When the pitches wrap up for the day, an area bound by the St. Johns River and Ocean, Adams, Newnan, Forsyth and Liberty streets becomes the Entertainment District, where venues are invited to "book whomever and whatever they like, no holds barred." Some of the One Spark performers will appear in the Entertainment District, and some acts that aren't involved in the festival will play.

Here's the schedule for the One Spark stages.
