Changes to Anzac Day Parade Stir Up Remarks

WHEN the Gin Gin Anzac Day parade took a different route this year, the community reaction was divided.

While the procession was usually led down the main street, this year the parade was led through May St.

Division 3 councillor Wayne Honor said the move proved confusing for the Gin Gin community.

C[pounds sterling]It went up May St and came down Walker St to the Cenotaph,C[yen] he said.

C[pounds sterling]It usually does from Milden (down Mulgrave) to the Cenotaph.C[yen]

In addition to the different route, Gin Gin RSL sub-branch president Neville Rayfield announced at the ceremony that the venue too would change next year.

Cr Honor said he had not been notified on any changes to location.

C[pounds sterling]Look, that was somewhat of a shock to me, it was something that was dropped there at the service,C[yen] Cr Honor said.

Gin Gin RSL sub-branch vice-president Richard Culey said the reason why the March location was changed was because of the road- works being carried out at the intersection at that time. …
