Bright Future for School; Principal in Bid to Cater for Secondary Students

Mary MacKillop Catholic School
2003: Opened with an enrolment of 60 students
2012: School purchased 5.4 hectares to develop a secondary Catholic education facility
Today: Student enrolment stands at more than 430 students with 270 different families
2014: The schoolas two prep classes will expand to three classes.
2016: The school hopes to open its secondary school (pending approval).
2020: Projected enrolment stands at 1000.
IN FIVE short years, Hugh Ford and Libby Sharp have witnessed quite a few milestones while attending their primary school in Highfields.
Not only has their community been identified as one of the stateas fastest growing areas, their school Mary MacKillop Catholic School has also grown.
And if their principal Donaugh Shirley has her way, the school will continue down the same path.
Mrs Shirley will visit Brisbane today to further cement the schoolas application to develop a secondary school adjacent to the current primary school. …
