Man Jailed for Two Years after Punching a Stranger

ANGRY over a fight with his girlfriend, Aayden Leslie Herbert Doak turned his frustrations on an unsuspecting teenager.

Doak approached the 18-year-old who was walking to a bus stop in Emu Park, and told him that if he didnCOt hand over his mobile phone he would C[pounds sterling]bangC[yen] him.

Doak then punched the teen in the jaw, knocking him to the ground.

Yesterday, the 20-year-old pleaded guilty in the Rockhampton District Court to attempting to rob the man on October 22 last year.

Crown prosecutor Jessica Cryer told the court the victim got to his feet, frightened, and told Doak he needed the phone for work.

She said Doak then asked him for money, to which he replied he only had about six or seven dollars.

Doak swung at the victim again, missing, but the man fell over again.

Ms Cryer said the victim handed over a few coins which had fallen out of his pocket, but Doak threw them back at him and left.

She said when Doak was arrested he initially denied committing the offence. …
