THE exhibition Bush Gems by Margaret Hodgson and Kathleen Davies presents nature studies that capture the true essence of the natural environment.

Margaret and Kathleen have travelled extensively throughout Australia for decades capturing the essence of the natural world with pencil, pen, brush and camera. Their individual styles are showcased in this exhibition.

Margaret follows rhythm of line, form and colour of the constantly changing environment, magnifying the intricate detail of flora and fauna and the colour of nature.

KathleenCOs enchanting line illustrations portray the many different birds and animals that live in the bush. Kathleen comments, C[pounds sterling]It is the character of the natural world that I try to capture in my work. I hope to instil an awareness and admiration of nature.C[yen] For Margaret it is C[pounds sterling]the hidden beauty of even the tiniest of bush gems, some only seen by a very few keen observers that I try to capture.C[yen]

The exhibition is an intimate collection of artwork that reflects the private lives of wildlife in their natural habitat and will be on display until June 30. A must-see for nature lovers.

The Glen Archies

The Glen Archies Portrait Exhibition is the galleryCOs major bi-annual event and will have its gala opening on Saturday, May 25, presented by the Glen Innes Art Gallery. There are three categories - two dimensional, three dimensional and photography, with the prize money totalling $2100. The exhibition is open from May 27 at 71 Grey St, Glen Innes.

New Exhibitions

Four new exhibitions have opened at the Grafton Regional Gallery. The official opening is being held today. All members of the public are invited to this free event.
