HAVING filled in more than adequately while Andrew Walker has been out injured, Josh Korn could feel a bit hard done.

He was dropped back to FassifernCOs Reserve grade squad this weekend.

Korn has guided the Bombers to their opening two wins of the season in A grade from five-eighth, but has no qualms slotting back into the Reserves Co the team he also coaches.

The reason is Korn is just happy to be playing any footy at all Co irrespective of the grade.

A decade ago he was told heCOd never play again after a car accident that broke his neck.

Originally from Proserpine, Korn represented Mackay at under-17 and 19 level.

It was while riding in a friendCOs car near Arlie Beach that his footballing ambitions were ended.

C[pounds sterling]We ran out of fuel,C[yen] he said.

C[pounds sterling]The car was sitting on the grass and some guy just veered off and cleaned us up.C[yen]

Korn was sitting in the passengersCO seat and the impact fractured the vertebrae in his neck, leaving him with numbness in his legs and pins and needles all over, which lasted 20 minutes.

X-rays the next day confirmed a broken neck.

C[pounds sterling]ICOm not fussed,C[yen] he said of returning to Reserve grade to face Swifts tomorrow at Hayes Oval.

C[pounds sterling]After eight years out of the game, ICOm just happy to play again.C[yen]

While he is able to play footy again, Korn is left with a constant reminder of the accident, in the form of ongoing headaches and nerve damage in his left leg.

C[pounds sterling]I canCOt drive a manual car now,C[yen] he said. C[pounds sterling]When ICOm sitting down, my left leg doesnCOt work well.

C[pounds sterling]I was told never to play contact sport again.C[yen]

After eight years, a trip to the doctor gave the green light to resume footy. …
