All Systems Go for Beef Week; Big Crowds Expected in Casino for Major Event

ITaS the calm before the storm, but itas a good storm called Beef Week and the Richmond Valley is ready.

The cattle are prepped, the sausages for the big brekkie are thawing, tug-o-war teams are in place and parades are ready to go.

Over the coming week Casino can expect to see up to 40,000 people attend all the Beef Week events, according to Beef Week president Stuart George.

aIf we get fine weather it will be around that many for the week,a he said. aWe can expect to see around 20,000 people alone in the main street of Casino on the Saturday with the big parade.a

Breaking down attendance at the events Mr George said between 3000 to 4,000 people usually are at the Butchersa Breakfast on the Friday morning, the same amount for the races and around 2,000 people go to the family day on the Sunday which includes the Fly-in Muster.

aThere is also quite a crowd that goes down to Evans Head for the Beef Meets Reef,a he said. …
