SACRISTON made it two wins out of two to go joint top of the early-season table - but they were given a run for their money by Greenside before triumphing by eight runs.

Callum Appleby played a key role in the Sacriston innings, hitting four fours and a six in his opening 47 scored from just 44 balls.

Nobody else could find the same freedom of stroke and, with Matt Willis picking up two wickets in the visiting attack, the home team was held in check on 101-6. Appleby was to play a crucial role in the Greenside innings, running out top scorer Joe Gray (24).

That proved a turning point as the home attack turned the screw - especially Dan Anderson (1-4 in four overs) and Liam McSkelly (1-10 in four).

Their spells ensured Greenside fell just short on 93-5. Lanchester and Ryton both recorded their first wins of the season, Lintz and Leadgate their respective victims.

A great bowling spell from Lintz' Scott Brunton (2-8) was not enough to stem the flow of Lanchester runs as openers Lee Murray and Cameron Metcalfe got the home team off to a great start. …
