MAROOCHYDORE State High School says everyone has a part to play when it comes to curbing bullying a including the bullied.

The schoolas vice principal Ken Ernst says parents, teachers, other school staff and students on both sides of the fence can help stamp out the behaviour.

He said the schoolas battle against bullying began on the first day of every school year when students were taught about cyber bullying and avoiding the pressures which led to anti-social behaviour.

He said all staff, including teachers, chaplains and school-based police officers, were educated to identify the signs of bullying.

Mr Ernst said parents had their part to play and the aget your parents to talk to the other kidas parentsa approach did not always work.

He said the children on the end of abuse could also help diffuse the situation by not giving the bullies what they crave the most a a reaction.

He said Maroochydore High took a strong stance on the topic and had helped students who had previously been bullied at other schools. …
