BILL Parks has called Lismore home for decades, so when he needed a hospital stay after badly injuring his knee last week, he expected a bed at Lismore Base Hospital.

But after just a few hours in Lismore he was transferred to Ballina. Apparently there werenat enough beds for Mr Parks, 84, whose wife died five months ago.

Now his family have to travel from Lismore to Ballina every day to visit.

aThe doctor said it could be a week or a fortnight,a Mr Parks, a former Norco employee of 45 years, said.

Mr Parks said head apaid tax in Lismorea his entire life and felt the situation was unfair.
