QBL Outfits in Victories as Action Hots Up

AS the temperatures drop, winter sport is heating up with some fiery battles around the region across all codes.

At a state level, the Central Queensland Capras sat this weekend out with a bye, and the QGESS Capricorn Claws do not play against until next month. But CQFC Energy played at the Gold Coast, and the Rockhampton Rockets and Cyclones kept the local crowd captivated at Hegvold Stadium in their wins against Townsville.

Locally, however, it was another busy weekend around Rockhampton.

In the Central Queensland Rugby Union A-grade competition, Brothers had a close 17-12 win over Colts while at Mt Morgan, Dawson Valley had a 14-12 win over University. Gladstone defeated Blackwater at Biloela 35-7.

In the CQ Premier League, Bluebirds had a 3-2 win over Emerald on Saturday, while Frenchville pipped Capricorn Coast 5-1. Southside United and Nerimbera toughed out a 1-1 draw at Jardine Park and Central defeated Berserker 3-0. Defending champions Clinton thrashed CQFC Energy Reserves 6-0. …
