Players Get a Kick out of Fundraising

FORMER Boro stars Neil Maddison and Terry Cochrane helped score a great funds tally for charity.

They took part in a four-way football tournament at the Riverside Stadium, helping to raise more than PS4,000 for four Teesside good causes.

The Agile Charity Challenge raised funds for Zoe's Place Baby Hospice, Teesside Hospice, Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation and the Boro's own charity, the MFC Foundation.

Organised by Stockton-based IT and communications provider Agile Group and Training, the challenge saw staff from Agile and their Teesside-based clients Subsea, Deep Ocean and BioChemica compete on the hallowed turf.

Those taking part got a taste of life as a Boro star by using the players' dressing rooms and emerged from the players' tunnel to the club's Power Game theme tune.

Teams and goalscorers were announced over the Riverside PA system by Mark Page and the players wore shirts sporting their names on the back.

The tournament was won on goal difference by Subsea when a late winner from Deep Ocean captain Paul Cleary denied Biochemica the crown. …
