HI everyone, I enjoyed a lovely relaxing time in London visiting family last weekend and I hope you all had fun too. Isn't it lovely when the weather behaves on a bank holiday? Over the last couple of weeks, Julieanne Kelly, our trust fundraiser and grant manager, and I have been out meeting families who have applied for much-needed equipment to enable their disabled children to live easier lives.

On Wednesday, I met a lovely little boy with cerebral palsy who is hoping we can raise enough money for a trike so he can go out with his friends. It will also help strengthen his leg muscles.

Another of my visits last week was to Percy Hedley School where they do some fabulous work with their children.

Our photographer came along, who took some lovely photos of one of their students for our June appeal.

One lad had an operation last year and desperately needs a walking frame, which he uses at school but doesn't have at home. His occupational therapist told me it will make a huge difference to his life.

Hopefully, we will be able to raise enough money from our appeal to help him and many other children with disabilities in the region who desperately need our support. If you would like more information on our appeal please let me know and I will send you one of our Go Bananas leaflets which includes fundraising ideas. Call me on 0191 2016289 or email caroll. pattison@ncjmedia.co.uk You can also support through donating via www.justgiving.com/go bananasanddonate or Text to Give - text GBSF13 with the amount to 70070 Thanks goes this week to the Roy Pixie Baker Trust via Ryecroft Glenton who have kindly awarded PS500 for CCTV to enable a blind child to see the TV and read alone.

Many thanks also to our volunteers this week. Emma Boyd is sending out packs for our Go Bananas Appeal to let people know how they can get involved and support us.

Also our regular weekly volunteers, Catherine and Rachel, are helping to prepare all the signage for the Sunshine Run. …
