THE hectic activity in our district continues this weekend with the Soundmakers Instrument Makers Symposium at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre and the staging of The Sound of Music by the Noosa Orchestra and Good Shepherd Lutheran College at the Noosaville State School Hall.

The Butter Factory event features an exhibition of handcrafted instruments.

From 10ama4pm today and tomorrow, performers and instrument-makers will entertain.

At 2.30pm tomorrow, everyone is invited to enjoy an afternoon tea surrounded by handcrafted instruments and live performances.

This is a free event, and no bookings are required.

Today and tomorrow, there are opportunities to hear the Noosa Orchestra performing the music for a stage production of The Sound of Music being presented by Good Shepherd Lutheran College.

Antoni Bonetti will conduct the orchestra through the performances which will be held tonight at 7 oaclock and tomorrow at 1pm and 7pm.

Tickets are $20 adults, $15 child/student and are available by phoning 54558600.

Friday Forum

TODAYaS Friday Forum has two guest speakers a at 10.30am Peter Franks, and at 11.15am Joe Jurisevic.

Peter is the recently appointed transfer manager to handle the transition of the old Noosa Shire Council area in its de-amalgamation from Sunshine Coast Regional Council. He will be outlining the steps involved in this transition.

Joe Jurisevic is known to many because of his role in Clean-Up Australia Day. He is passionate about achieving a aclean, litter-free Noosaa and he will outline his ideas for making this a reality.

There will be time for questions following each speaker.

Both talks will be held at the Environment Centre, Wallace Park, Noosaville. Morning coffee is available from 10am, and the guest speakers will start at 10.30. All are welcome to attend the free event.


A WORKSHOP will be held tomorrow at 1pm at the Research Rooms of CooroyaNoosa Genealogical and Historical Research Group. …
