The future of up to 15 Teesside staff has been plunged into doubt after it emerged law firm DWF plans to close its Stockton office.

The move is part of a wider restructuring exercise at the Manchester-based firm, which employs more than 2,500 staff across the UK and Ireland.

DWF is in talks to redeploy some of the Teesside workers in its Newcastle and Coventry offices, although it is almost certain that some redundancies will be made locally.

In a statement the company said: "Following a review of its location strategy, and how this aligns with the needs of its clients, business law firm DWF has confirmed that it is in consultation with employees about changes to the way the firm operates in Teesside.

"The proposed approach means that DWF will no longer maintain a permanent team at its Teesside office, but instead adopt a flexible local presence using the office facilities for meetings with clients where appropriate. …
