AN enraged passenger punched his taxias 62-year-old leg amputee driver in the face before chasing him around his cab, a court has been told.

Glencoe man and company director Glen Thomas Krause, 49, appeared in Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday to plead guilty to the serious assault of person aged over 60 years and evading a fare.

Police prosecutor Senior Sergeant Bill McKenzie said Krause and three other people entered a taxi after leaving the Bellevue Hotel on April 25.

After finding their intended destination of the Irish Club was closed, the passengers were dropped home until only Krause remained in the taxi.

Snr Sgt McKenzie said Krause directed the taxi driver to take him to Gowrie Junction, but an argument soon ensued about the route being taken.

The driver stopped near the intersection of Tor and Bridge Sts shortly after midnight and refused to take Krause any further. …
