SACRISTON finally succeeded in registering their first victory, hammering Felling by nine wickets to consolidate their third place in the table.

The club started the season well enough, a succession of 'winning draws' helping them preserve an unbeaten record.

However, this win tasted sweet after several nearmisses.

It was set up by Ian Hunter, whose bowling efforts were fully appreciated by wicketkeeper Bryan Potts. He said: 'It was a very solid performance with excellent personal contributions within the team effort.

'Felling decided to bat first, which is what we would have done too had we won the toss.

"We soon had them on the back foot.

"The wicket was pretty good but it did seam around early on and Hunter is exactly the type of bowler who can exploit such conditions.

"He nipped in with two early wickets.

'The pitch seemed to play a bit better and Ian concentrated on line and length, proving very difficult to score from and kept taking wickets. …
