Golden Boys Mo and Greg in Line-Up for Gateshead

OLYMPIC champions Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford will be the star attractions at the European Team Championships in Gateshead from 22 June after being named in the 61-strong team.

Farah will compete in the 5000m at the two-day event, while Rutherford will once again be in action in the long jump. They are joined in the team by fellow London 2012 medallists Christine Ohuruogu, who won a silver in the 400m last summer, and high jump bronze medallist Robbie Grabarz.

The team will be captained by Perri Shakes-Drayton, who has made a strong start to her season over the 400m. She will once again compete over the flat rather than her preferred event of the 400m hurdles.

Other noticeable names in the squad are 400m hurdles world champion Dai Greene, pole vaulter Holly Bleasdale and sprinter James Dasaolu, who gets the nod for the sole 100m berth over Dwain Chambers and Adam Gemili.

The one major absentee is Jessica Ennis-Hill, who pulled out of tomorrow's Bislett Games in Oslo with a foot injury and is not expected to make her season debut until a heptathlon competition in Tallinn the following weekend. …
