We Can Help Rescue Indian Kids

INDIAN nun Sister Clara Devaraj dedicates her life to rescuing children stolen or sold by their families into prostitution, street begging or child labour.

Now she is asking the people of Toowoomba and the Darling Downs to help with her mission.

Sr Clara is touring Australia this month raising awareness of the plight of disadvantaged children in India and will stop in Toowoomba this weekend to speak at a number of functions.

Toowoomba woman Beatrice Lucas, who is the Diocesan Director of Catholic Mission Toowoomba, which is supporting Sr Claraas work, has just returned from visiting Sr Clara in India.

aThe work Sr Clara and her helpers do in India is amazing,a Mrs Lucas said.

aWe visited her main house in Chennai, where she has 130 girls.

aThe girls are given a safe home where they receive school lessons and learn skills such as sewing and computers that will help them later in life to obtain good paying jobs. …
