JAHMAL Weaver added GB Youth Championships gold to his Junior ABA title victory with a heavy-handed display in Wales.

The 16-year-old Pallister Park ABC light-heavyweight stopped Welsh youngster Sam Janes in the second round as he followed up his Junior ABA points win in Mansfield with a clinical international finish.

Phil Thomas School of Boxing's Kasey Robinson and Arman Asad from Natural Progression in Stockton - both Junior ABA runners-up - won silver and praise from the England coaches at last weekend's Junior Three Nations in Warrington.

Smith is now hoping Weaver will be in the selectors' thoughts when it comes to the European Youth Championships in October.

"He is so mentally strong that I wouldn't put it past him to do well if he got there."

Weaver's win in Swansea took Pallister Park ABC's overall record for the season to 41 wins from 64 bouts.

Light welterweight Robinson lost on unanimous points to Repton's strong Jimmy Smith - who beat him in the Junior ABA finals - in the Junior Three Nations decider. …
