A TEESSIDE man has been jailed for four-and-a-half-years for his role in a major drugs gang.

Ben Angus was sentenced alongside 10 other men for his role in the network which flooded the region with cocaine and amphetamines.

Angus, of Parklands Avenue in Billingham, admitted conspiracy to supply Class B drugs.

He was sentences at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday.

The 24-year-old was arrested last year when police struck in a series of raids in Newcastle in September.

Between PS1.5m and PS1.7m worth of drugs were seized as part of Operation Wexford, launched by Northumbria Police.

The gang was led by Lawrence Flanagan, 46, from Byker, Newcastle.

He arranged for cocaine to be delivered from Liverpool and amphetamines to be delivered from Teesside for distribution.

Flanagan admitted conspiracy to supply cocaine and amphetamines and was locked up for eight years.

In total, the 10 men received prison sentences totalling more than 44 years yesterday. …
