A YOUNG Evans Head man is among 85 future junior naval officers graduating this week from the Australian Naval College at HMAS Creswell.

Sub Lieutenant Tom Marty is the latest graduate from the Navyas New Entry Officer Course (NEOC).

The 22-year-old has been undergoing six months of rigorous leadership and sometimes gruelling survivability training at the prestigious and historic naval establishment at Jervis Bay.

Tom, a former Evans River School student, is specialising as an aeronautical engineering officer after completing a Bachelor of Engineering.

aMy role will depend on my posting but the work involves aeronautical maintenance, management, design project management and safety,a Tom said.

Tom and his NEOC colleagues agree the course has been a real test on them personally and professionally.
