FOR the first time in a decade Mark George put on shoes and a collared shirt to go to work on Monday.

But instead of wandering from his kitchen to his home office the digital designer joined dozens of other local teleworkers in setting up his shop in the food hall at Coffs Central.

It was a bold experiment to see if the concept of a co-working space or co-lab for the Coffs Coastas work-from-home online professionals was viable.

For iPhone app developer Peter Van Schellebeck the chance to return to something akin to an office environment was irresistible.

aWhen you work from home there are lots of distractions and you have to juggle a lot of things,a Mr Van Schellebeck said.
