Morgan Can See Bright Futures for Stokes and Rankin

EOIN MORGAN has backed Ben Stokes and Boyd Rankin to have long careers for England in limited-overs cricket.

Rankin took a wicket with his fourth ball for England against New Zealand last night, while Stokes's six in the final over of the game was not quite enough to prevent his team slipping to a five-run defeat in a thrilling Twenty20 match at The Kia Oval. Morgan knows Rankin well from their time playing for Ireland, while he has also seen plenty of Stokes for the younger England teams.

"If they keep performing, they could certainly stay in the side for years to come," said Morgan, who led the team after Stuart Broad was among several senior players rested. They definitely have the potential to do that.

"I've seen a hell of a lot of Boyd. I grew up playing with him for Ireland in representative teams and then when he was at Middlesex.

"He is so tall so he can generate pace and bounce and he proved what he could do yesterday. …
