IPHONES stolen in a break-in at a Maroochydore mobile phone dealership were offered for sale on Facebook days after the theft.

The Facebook posts and identity numbers helped police recover some of the stolen phones.

Jay Dorian Fitzgerald pleaded guilty in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court yesterday to five fraud and two tainted property offences over the iPhones.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Melissa Cambpell told the court a large number of mobile phones were stolen in a break-in at Network Communications on November 20 last year.

Snr Const Campbell said police noted the International Mobile Equipment Identity a IMEI - numbers of the stolen phones.

Attempts to unlock one of the numbered phones led police to a man who told them he had bought it in a bar for $350.

He identified the seller from a photo board as Fitzgerald.

Snr Const Campbell said another man who had sold a phone to someone else told police he bought a number of them from Fitzgerald, who had posted abrand new iPhonesa for sale on Facebook. …
