THERE will be a familiar face missing from the stands at RockhamptonCOs Browne Park this weekend.

As his beloved CQU Norths Chargers take to the field, the club will remember former club great Phillip C[pounds sterling]BlueyCOCO Sear, who sadly passed away on Sunday, aged 83.

Affectionately known as Bluey due to his once flaming locks, Sear is renowned as one of the finest rugby league players the region has produced.

During his illustrious career, the nuggetty lock forward played for Rockhampton and Central Queensland against Great Britain, New Zealand, French and American touring teams.

A staple of a dominant Norths outfit that graced Browne Park during the late 1950s and early 1960s, he is the leading Rockhampton Senior Rugby League premiership winner, with seven premierships.

He won his last grand final as a player Co what he dubs his finest Co in 1964, some 16 years after beginning his senior career for the club. …
