PUPPY love was in the air at the weekend as 435 dogs and their owners travelled from all over Australia for the Lismore and District Kennel Clubas Championship Dog Show at Alstonville Showground.

Proud exhibitors donned everything from suits and ties to shimmering sparkly coats as they paraded their prized pooches around several show rings under the watchful eye of the judges a all vying for the coveted title of Best of Breed.

Four years after migrating to Australia from Germany in 1960, Helma and Helmut Dressler entered their first dog show in Canberra and the couple havenat stopped since.

aFirst we had the dogs as pets at home and once we started showing them it developed from there into a hobby we love,a Helma said.

The Jimboomba couple have been coming to Lismore Kennel Clubas Championship show for more than 10 years with their Yorkshire Terriers and said they loved the village feel of Alstonville. …
