Tributes to Man Who Died at Castle

TRIBUTES were last night paid by the employers of a man who died after falling in Warkworth Castle's keep.

As reported in yesterday's Journal, emergency services were called to Warkworth Castle and Hermitage at around 10am on Tuesday.

The man, a member of staff at the Northumberland tourist attraction, had fallen.

He was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle for treatment, but police last night confirmed he was pronounced dead in hospital.

The man's identity and what position he held at the castle is not yet known. However English Heritage, who run the tourist attraction, has paid tribute a man who was well-liked by his colleagues.

A spokeswoman said: "It is with great sadness that we can confirm the death of a member of staff at Warkworth Castle.

"He was highly regarded by all his friends and colleagues here at English Heritage and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family at this time. …
