RE 'Feeling the squeeze' (story 28.7.13), certainly not our MPs or councillors, they will still get their increases while other people in our town have to go along with austerity measures.

If our council had watched what was going on in some sections of our council and policing we would not have been in such a situation it has cost this town a fortune in legal fees.

When money was free and easy our council went on a vote catching spree. Now that we are in a very serious economic situation, they want it back. It does not work that way.

The last two years, the government offered them millions to freeze the council tax. The people wanted it but the council ignored them.

They have been offered another two year freeze - are they going to ignore the people again? If they do, I would suggest that we look for councillors who we can talk to and are not the untouchable like the ones we have now.

As for hanging on by their fingertips, if they do fall, landing on their wallets would save them from any serious injury. …
