Field Music Give New Voice to a Film Classic

ADMIRED North East band Field Music is working on a new commission for the eighth Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival.

The band, led by Sunderland brothers Peter and David Brewis, is creating a new soundtrack for a 1929 documentary called Drifters.

It was made by pioneering Scottish filmmaker John Grierson who is credited with coining the term 'documentary'.

The film follows a herring fleet as it sets sail from the Shetlands.

The new cinematic score will be performed live at the festival by the Mercury Prize-shortlisted band.

It will see the brothers reunited with Andrew Moore for the first time since 2007, recreating the band's original line-up.

David Brewis said: "It is incredibly exciting to be working with Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival to create something quite unique and it's especially exciting that we're going to do it with Andy back in the fold.

"We intended to take a breather from regular band activities this year after a hectic schedule touring the last two Field Music records. …
