WORKSHOP TUESDAY ON GOPHER TORTOISES

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will conduct a free workshop Tuesday on the revised management plan and permitting guidelines for gopher tortoises. The event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Fort Clinch Visitors Center Community Room. The goal is to identify ways local governments can participate in protecting one of Florida's threatened species. FWC will also discuss financial incentives available for local governments. CHAMBER ISSUES GUIDE IN PRINT AND ONLINE

The county's Chamber of Commerce has published the first comprehensive printed and digital guide to the county. The production of the Baker County Visitors & Relocation Guide 2013 was funded by a grant from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. The guide details the varied recreation opportunities and includes articles about the county's economy and growth and a historical interview with two local legends, Richard H. FAMILIES INVITED TO HEALTHY KIDS PROGRAM

Families are invited to participate in the Healthy Kids Program being offered by the University of Florida and Clay County Cooperative Extension Office. The free four-month program is designed to promote health and wellness in children ages 3-7 and their families through healthy eating and physical activity. Children and their families will participate in 12 group meetings at the Clay County Cooperative Extension Service in Green Cove Springs. …
