Please don't pick our primroses A WARDEN saw a woman picking primroses in Saltburn Valley Gardens - but when the incident was reported to Saltburn and Marske Urban Council's Tramway, Gardens and Foreshore committee it was revealed that there were no by-laws that covered the uprooting of flowers. Instead of taking legal action the council decided to write to the woman and ask her not to repeat the practice.

Travelling outside the Transporter WHEN Transporter Bridge driver George Downes started back from the Port Clarence side he saw a man travelling on the foot-wide ledge outside the car gates. He stopped and told the man, George Coltman of Billingham, to get inside. When he refused passengers grabbed hold of him until the police arrived. Coltman was fined PS5 and said "I didn't realise it would cause so much trouble."
