ALAN PARDEW is more than satisfied with Papiss Cisse's fitness as Newcastle United count the days down to the Premier League's big kick off.

And the Magpies boss will once again turn to the Senegal ace for tonight's showdown in Glasgow with Rangers (7.45pm).

The Magpies No.9 made a scoring return to action at St Mirren last week after a dispute over he would wear Wonga shirts.

But despite missing the club's tour of Portugal, Cisse's supreme fitness levels have shone through since rejoining the group.

Pardew said: "We were a bit surprised with Papiss. We did what we could with him in the background, but it wasn't easy for him. He's coped very, very well."

Pardew will field a strong side at Ibrox tonight including Tim Krul, Hatem Ben Arfa and Moussa Sissoko.

Looking ahead to what is a favourite fixture of United fans, Pardew said: "I'm taking a squad of 20 players. Everyone's OK.

"It'll be a strong team.

There's a great history between the two clubs, and I'm sure our fans will enjoy going to Ibrox. …
