ANDY Murray gave a professional display to dispatch Mikhail Youzhny in straight sets in the second round of the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati.

The world number two bounced back from his surprising early exit in Montreal last week to beat the 31-year-old Russian 6-2 6-3 in just 70 minutes.

Murray (pictured above), a winner in Cincinnati in 2011 and 2008, will next face France's Julien Benneteau as he continues his preparations for the defence of his US Open title.

The second seed went into the contest leading Youzhny 3-0 on head-to-head, including a straightsets victory over the Russian on his way to winning this year's Wimbledon title.

And the opening set was a largely one-sided affair in which Murray raced into a 4-0 lead.

Youzhny looked more composed when facing Murray's serve, with some powerful hitting and long rallies enough to remind the Scot he was in a match.

But the Russian's own service games lacked consistency and Murray capitalised as his opponent served up five double faults and steered several tame forehands into the net. …
