PRUDHOE Town won a thrilling Sunderland Shipowners' Cup tie at Horden CW to progress into the second round.

The scores were level at 3-3 after 90 minutes and after extratime it was 5- 5. Prudhoe, whose scorers in the 120 minutes of open play were Kia Hewitson (2), Matthew Soulsby, Liam Thear and Dylan Howarth, eventually won the penalty shoot-out 7-6. Annfield Plain were unable to halt Stockton Town's splendid start and the Teessiders remain out in front with seven wins on the bounce.

Carlton McCabe (2), Scott Meehan and Chris Stockton were their match-winners and the Cleveland outfit boasts a five-point lead over Ryhope CW.

The Wearsiders have conceded just two points, but it was a close call at Seaton Carew, who were in with a chance until added time.

Lee Jones was an early marksman for the home side before Jack Pounder and Michael Charlton fired Ryhope in front.

It was not until stoppage time Ryhope made certain of the points with strikes by Nathan O'Neil and Nathan Johnson. …
