SHERIFF'S OFFICE HOLDS ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

Baker County Sheriff Joey Dobson recognized achievements of employees past and present at last week's inaugural Sheriff's Office Annual Awards Banquet. The Sheriff's Citizen Service Award was presented to Dale Hodges and Frank Green for 20 years of volunteer service. Employees Joe Barber, Kenneth Roberts, Clois Stafford, Vernon Prevatt, Earl Gonzalez, Bill Watson and Tommy Kent were recognized for careers spanning more than 25 years. Awards were also given to employees who displayed exemplary service during the past year. Community Partnership Awards were given to businesses and people who made contributions toward programs such as "Shop With A Deputy" and "National Night Out."

CLAY COUNTY

HEARING SLATED FOR LAND-USE MEASURE

The County Commission is holding a second public hearing and vote at 5 p.m. Tuesday over a land-use amendment allowing a 470-acre tract in Middleburg to be developed for commercial ventures including the proposed Big League Dreams complex. The county's Planning Commission has recommended the County Commission approve the amendment. The property owner, BFC Partnership, Limited wants the mixed-use designation.

CLASSES FOR FOSTER CARE OR ADOPTION OFFERED

People considering foster care or adoption can sign up for free Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education (PRIDE) classes beginning from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Orange Park. The 10-week series of classes will follow the Florida Department of Children and Families curriculum.
